THE CHALLENGE
Traditionally, checking honey production requires opening the hive, which can:
-
Disturb and stress the bees
-
Disrupt hive activity and productivity
-
Increase risk to both bees and beekeepers
-
Make frequent monitoring inefficient
Farmers needed a way to track honey production more accurately while maintaining a healthy environment for the bees.
OUR SOLUTION
In collaboration with Pollination Nation, we developed a smart beehive monitoring system designed to track honey production without interfering with the hive.
The system includes:
-
Load sensors to measure hive weight
-
LED alert indicators for easy monitoring
-
A simple, non-intrusive design
Each hive is equipped with a load sensor that continuously measures its weight, which directly reflects honey accumulation.
When the hive reaches a target weight (typically around 5 kilograms), an LED light is triggered to signal that the honey is ready for collection.
This system allows farmers to monitor hive productivity without opening or disturbing the bees.
